I couldn't find an existing suggestion for this, so I'm starting a new one. According to the Emera Beach Guide it's possible to catch a Megaable Pokémon, but you can only find out if it is by adopting it. I get that this is similar to knowing that your Pokémon is Megaable after adopting the egg and hatching it, but in case of the Water Pokémon this seems bothersome as among those possible Megaables are Magicarps (meaning: Pokémon with a high catch rate). So to figure out if any of your catches falls into this category you'd have to "mass"-adopt them (I know you can only adopt 10 catches in a certain amount of time) and then either spam the Auction house (which in the long run would result in lowering the Pokémons value) or release them all. While at the same time Items from Leah are available for these Pokémon that could potentially be worth a lot more than some Bait or Boxes/Candies. Long story short - my suggestion is: Could the Megaable Pokémon be marked after catching them (like the Shinies and the Retros), so they are not used for Item Trades and the Auction house is not spammed with a flood of Magicarps (etc.)? An alternative was provided by Miss-X in the comments: Instead of marking the Megaable Pokémon, there could be something like the egg scanner in the Daycare.
