“…well… We won’t end up dead, so let’s not think about that! I..
guess it would be a good idea to go to town, there’s probably a
tourist centre! And those places always know where the closest
things are!” Everest nodded
”Mysterious… surprising… and law-defying… Isn’t that
right?”
This was not the first time that Uyu woke up not knowing where he
was. Extra points though because he hadn't ever woken up in the
desert before. Not the best experience admittedly, 2/10 experience
ranked just below the time he woke up to people hotboxing
themselves while having a... well a very heated workout session
with more than one person, or the time he almost nearly drowned
himself in the bath. Fun times.
Groaning, Uyu staggered up and immediately pulled a face as sand
came pouring out of his clothes. It was pretty funny to an
outsider, seeing a wiry man stand up only for a sandfall to come
spilling out of his pockets and jacket. Slightly disgruntled, Uyu
removed his gloves to shake sand out of them before taking a good
look around him. Seeing other people, his face snapped immediately
into a friendly smile as he picked his way over, only wobbling
slightly as sand shifted under his heels. "Oh dear, that is a bit
embarrassing." He laughed as a greeting, one hand rubbing the back
of his neck. "You wouldn't happen to know where we are, no?"
Everest shook his head “That’s what we’re trying to find out… no
one here can even remember how they got here. I mean, I don’t even
live near a desert!”
”Mysterious… surprising… and law-defying… Isn’t that
right?”
Farinna yawns and stretches again, audible cracking in all of her
bones. "Yeah, neither do I... not the most fun way to find out how
well one sleeps on sand. Now, how about we go for the town?" She
points at the town in the distance again, smiling a bit. The
performer was starting to brighten up a bit.

Right, Maverick didn't need to be told twice. He heads towards the
town, trying to look around for signs as he walks. If he could just
figure out what language the people spoke here-- or more, what they
did speak, since this place seemed to be abandoned, then it
could help narrow down their options on where they were. A real
civilization had to be close. Right?
"Well-" he says while turning around to glance behind him as he
spoke. "Do any of you see a tourist center?" He asks while lifting
up the collar of his shirt to wipe away beads of sweat. They would
need some water. Dehydration or heat stroke wouldn't help anyone
right now. "Even a bar would be helpful. We could get some water
there. Perhaps the cups will have the bar's name and logo in
it."
Uyu seemed to be lagging behind, struggling with the sandy terrain
as he shrugged off his puffy coat to throw it over his head for
shade though its cropped nature didn't provide much relief. His
pale skin was already starting to blister under the harsh sunlight,
obviously unused to such levels of exposure. "It's a place to
start." He agreed, following close behind Maverick. "Sand dunes
also get unbelievably cold during the night and while I don't have
the faintest objections to sharing a bed with any of you lovely
cuties, it would be for the best if we found better shelter. We
don't know if this lovely weather might change for the worse
either."
While there were certainly flirtatious undertones to the words, Uyu
was quite serious about finding shelter for now. While he wasn't
sure exactly what environment they were in there were always danger
associated with leaving themselves unguarded in open areas.
Especially with so many unknown variables, it would undeniably be
safer to be as cautious as possible
As the group walked closer, the town stopped looking, well, it
stopped looking so abandoned. The town was bustling with activity…?
There were what could be described as people moving out and about,
doing their daily business and such. You know. Like people do.
Businesses lined the streets. There was an Arby’s. However, the
strange thing was, as they walked through the streets:
“There doesn’t seem to be a tourist centre… but there is a… diner?
Moonlite All-Nite Diner, maybe that will have something?” Everest
noted, feeling the heat on his skin, but he was outside a lot
anyway, so it was bearable for now.
”Mysterious… surprising… and law-defying… Isn’t that
right?”
"I... could go for a bite, if I am honest." Farinna said, hand over
her belly. She looks over to her fellow abductees, turning to them.
"What do you say, a bit of the old sweettalkery and a nice coffee?"

"Coffee would be nice, but it would be even more enjoyable with a
book." Cielo muttered, walking along with the group, frowning at
the town. He seemed to be somewhat deep in thought. "This place is
very odd, eerie almost." He said, scoffing a bit and trying to
shield his eyes from the sun.

"Ooh! Food, that's a good start. Maybe the Diner owner could help
us, maybe redirect us to a bus station or something!" Sucrose
squinted into the sky, scolding himself for wearing a sweater
before going to bed. He watched the people go on with their
everyday lives. "Weird. I can't imagine people living in a place
like this... oh, an Arby's!"

“Then, I guess we’re going there! Plus.. it’s the closest thing to
us…” Everest said, looking at the neon glow of the Diner. There was
something off about this whole town, but he just couldn’t place a
finger on it. He started to walk towards the diner
”Mysterious… surprising… and law-defying… Isn’t that
right?”
Farinna follows close behind, now out of her groggy state. Her
posture is now straighter than her, her walk is a lot more
confident... it was like a personality change. "This town is a
unique stage... but I like it. New experiences, you know? Haven't
seen a diner like that in a long time either, I gotta say, I'm
excited."

The diner itself was cute quite cute in his opinion, a place that
he would definitely put his resume in for if he was looking for
someplace new to work at. But it was made all the more charming
because of its creepy atmosphere that seemed to settle over the
town like a blanket, a specter that clung to the walls and the
backs of its residents. Uyu liked it, the atmosphere familiar in a
way that made him feel at home. The surrounding businesses also
seemed well maintained, with employees actually manning the front
desks and customers bustling around. For all intents and purposes,
it was just like any other town with happy citizens and a booming
economy.
Possibly because of his height, Uyu was the first to reach the
diner, resting under the shade as he waited for the rest of the
group to catch up.
"It's a foreign piece of land, everything is strange. I bet if I
put you in some other town, you'd be just as lost." Farinna smiles,
giving Everest a light hit on the shoulder. "Now let's go in
already, to set our first steps into our return!"

“I guess you’re right.” He waited for everyone to be gathered
before they all went into the diner.
It was a typical diner, outdated
decor on the walls, neon lights, waitresses with fruit branches
growing out of their chest and necks, staticky speakers playing the
radio- wait what..? The patrons and staff turned to watch the
group, seeing as they were outsiders
”Mysterious… surprising… and law-defying… Isn’t that
right?”
Farinna looks around, confused. "Is this... is this a themed diner,
perhaps? Some sort of... floral neon?" She looks a little confused,
a little startled when everyone looked at them. She reclaimed her
confidence, nodding. "Greetings. Do you have a vacant table?"

The Waitress nodded, motioning towards a
table. She handed them a menu. “For Newcomers.” She said, nodding
her head to the music that only she can hear. “I will be there when
you order.” She turned, dealing with another table now.
“I guess we sit down then..!” Everest said, sliding into a booth.
”Mysterious… surprising… and law-defying… Isn’t that
right?”
"Hmmm, let's check the menu then." Farinna looks down at it, being
a little puzzled at the meals and such they offer. "... do any of
you happen to know what you are going for?"
