The commissioner clenched his teeth, then grabbed Theo by the arm.

Then, a gunshot rang out.

The commissioner fell the the ground, as a hooded man appeared out of the shadows, holding a smoking pistol.

"Ope, pardon me. Did I interrupt something? Lover's quarrel? Or were you just fighting over me?"

He grinned.

"Just in time, right?"
