Luna was walking along the corridors and saw Samton and Tien
putting something in a locker. She was curious, but, told herself
the it wasn't her business to pry. She went out side and looked at
the forest, it had an inviting aura and she took a step to it. And
another. And another, until she was back in. She began wandering,
looking for nothing in particular. And she came upon a pond. By
that time, she had already walked until she was very thirsty. She
paused and checked if the water was clean and cupped her hands and
drank from the water. She sat and began practicing her magic. She
stopped and lay down, the tree nearby had a nest in it, there were
a few blue jays in it. A thought suddenly struck her, she shouldn't
be there. She looked around and began retracing her steps.
I have no friends due to the massive hole in my heart. Would you
consider being the one to plug up the hole of feeling?
Therese had finished her little business on the academy farm and
was now on her way to the pond, with pencil, paper and a strange
toolbox in hand, as she saw another student looking around and on
the ground, as if she was looking for something. A little confused,
she wanted to approach her, which is when her anxiety kicked in...
what if she was stressed and lashed out or remarked her unusual
body... afraid, she withdrawed and just walked a little faster,
passing by her before letting out a defeated sigh... "Next time..."
She uttered under her breath in a foreign language.
“That’s alright. I wouldn’t expect you to be able to tell that
she’s a dark elemental.” She winces slightly, watching Kynik take
his clothes off, revealing the bandages. “Are you feeling better
now? That must have hurt” She asks politely, seemingly
uncomfortable with the fact that he just took off a piece of
clothing. “Um…do you mind putting it back on…?” Thalia strokes
Midnight as she rests her head on Thalia’s lap. “Toffee will
probably be able to run very fast. I expect you take excellent care
of him yourself?” Thalia picks up a stick, tossing the bandages
further away, explaining to Kynik about “hygiene and safety issues”
“The residue of light magic is still on the bandages, I don’t wish
for Midnight to bite you again. Would you like to pet her now?
Just— make sure you don’t have any light magic traces on you”
Kynik paused a little at her words, a breeze blowing across the
lake just to tickle the grasses sitting around them. He had taken
off his uniform's jacket and only removed the one side in order to
properly get at the bandages, but he had put the shoulder back on
so he had just been sitting there with the shirt on, just buttons
unfastened. Oh! Maybe the blood stain was the problem?
"Oh sorry, there was no intention to make the young miss
uncomfortable." He apologized setting down the bandages he had
been jokingly playing with so he could pull the jacket back on to
hide the dirty shirt. She continued with more questions about his
horse, distracting him from the previous topic. "Ah well, the
Margrave does have stablehands but an attached colt will do what he
wants and when he only wants one perso-"
He didn't get much of a chance to react, as he was still fumbling
with the jacket's buttons during his answer. His conversation
partner had grabbed a stick, scooping it under the folded mass and
tried to fling it away from the duo.
"O-oh." He tried to grab it when he realized but it was
already too late, the brown and white cloth already out of reach.
'Ah... Leaving those there would be a bad idea. I'll just pick
that up and dispose of them properly when she goes. ' The male
student made a mental note of it to himself, not quite hearing the
first part of the next topic, having swapped back to her own pet
again.
"No, I do believe I should probably wait on that. Maybe tomorrow
if you do not mind accompanying me again." He had raised both
hands in a sort of jazz-like motion, re-affirming the denial of a
do-over.
“I’m not uncomfortable. I just…well umm never mind. So doesn’t
Toffee miss you?” Thalia looks slightly amused at the fact that
Kynik was waving his hands about. “I suppose I might meet you
again. Petting her can wait. Pets aside, though. How was training?”
"You know? One cannot really be sure." Kynik had never
really put much attention into the thoughts of a horse.
"Sometimes he would finds ways to escape and come headbutt me
for pats though so, it is likely he might."
He next question was easy. While the writer has no idea what kind
of training Thalia was referring to, other than probably the
testing stuff this morning, Kynik continued to follow from the
previous topic.
"Well training was a bit difficult at first. Father and the
Margrave wanted to put a saddle on him as soon as he was large
enough to hold a child to get him used to it but he was a bit
stubborn at first. They started all the colts and fillies born in
the same season at the same time though. I think it was when I
offered to help the trainer put the saddle on that Toffee settled
down that it was pretty much decided I should work with the trainer
myself. But he was used to others putting it on and taking it off
by the time he was large enough to train him in actual riding."
He waves a hand back and forth as if shooing away a smell or
potentially odd thought. "He seems to like my sister though so I
gave her permission to ride him when she wants since I couldn't
bring him here. Though, it is not like I have much say in what they
do with my horse while I'm gone."
Luna looked up to see another girl walking away, "Hey! Wait!" She
ran up to her. While looking at her, she assumed that the girl was
three years older than her. When she saw the girl struggling to
speak, she said, in sign language, "Don't worry I know sign
language. My name's Luna. I'm seventeen, and I have dyslexia."She
paused, checking in her mind if she signed anything wrong. When she
confirmed she didn't, she looked around and said, "Did you see me
*ahem* doing something other than... looking at the ground?" Her
face turned red, when she realized how awkward she sounded.

Therese stutters a little, as she didn't expect Luna to talk to
her, yet alone in sign language. Though she was kind of relieved as
well, at least someone might understand her. A little flustered,
she signed back. "My name is Therese. 20 years old... and it looked
like you were retracing... or at least looking for something." Her
face was beet red, her fingers trembling a little before she tried
calming herself down, straightening her back and taking deep
breaths...
"I was trying to see the difference between forest dirt and dirt by
the pond." Luna signed. That was half true. "If you're heading to
the pond, could I come with?"

All of a sudden, Therese pulls out a notebook and goes through it
before showing it to Luna.
The differences in soils between several places in the
academy.
Attached first was a map of the academy with three crosses: one at
the farm, one on the pond and one in the forest.
What followed is an overbearingly accurate description of each
soil, ranging to the chemical compositions of each and the sun
intake of each for today. A larger sentence is written at the
bottom of the page:
The Kanaille will prosper at the farm. Standard caretaking
procedures.
You know the first rule in combat?
Shoot them before they shoot you.
Luna looked at the notebook, amazed, then she signed,"I used to
travel a lot and collect dirt, as weird as that sounds, I still
have a few samples. Would you like to see?" She motioned towards
the mages' dorms.

Therese gave a little chuckle, even signing the letters "h" and "a"
repeatedly before nodding and signing. "If you don't mind me
entering your sacred halls... I'd be delighted." She blushes again
and then looks away to the pond, thinking about her own collection
she brought along, before signing. "And maybe you visit me...?"
You know the first rule in combat?
Shoot them before they shoot you.
"Sure!" Luna signed back. "I don't mind. In fact I've got some old
dirt that I've had since I was three, I keep it in a bag." She went
to a nearby log in which she had hidden her back pack and took out
two bags. One was the dirt, and the other had strange plants that
Therese had probably never seen before. "These plants grew in the
dirt. You can have a few if you like." She started walking towards
the dorm. "My dorm's over here, more of my samples are there."

Therese tilts her head at the various plants, then looking at the
dirt, while scratching her head. "Do you collect them for alchemy
purposes too?" She asked, chuckling while signing it to her before
putting the notebook back and carefully digging through it. It took
her some time before revealing something... an unusual rose. It was
violet in color, but not a standard violet like otherwise known.
It's... almost like it hides it's true colours and shines in a
vibrant kind because of it. One also might notice how Therese's
hair suddenly got slightly up, as if she was zapped by electricity.
Though now one hand occupied, she simply pointed at the rose and
smiled a little.
Luna looked at it for a second and reached in the bag. She pulled
out a flower almost identical to it and looked at the two closely,
instead of violet, it was orange. "That's a Kanaille, right? This
is a close cousin. Wow! I thought Kanaille's weren't real!"
Luna looked at it again, "Cool."

"A special kind of it though..." Therese sighed a little, looking
up into the sky and patting the flower, which in turn made her hair
spike up even more. "Kanailles are known for their beauty but also
for their little zap when you touch them. Which is why you usually
cut them rather them rooting them out. But these... heh..." Therese
chuckles a little, as she puts down the flower on the bottom of a
letter, written in a completely different language. "They retain
their electricity no matter how you pick them."
They walked in silence for a bit until they reached Luna's dorm,
there were plants lined up on a desk, on a bookshelf (there weren't
any books) and a big crate used as a makeshift garden. Luna paused
at one of them, a blue flower resembling a crown and directed some
water to it. She sat on a chair and opened a drawer, there was an
amazing array of boxes with dirt, mud, and ashes. Luna took out the
ones with dirt and lined them up so their labels faced Therese.

Therese let out an amazed wow... which was the first time she let
out something from her mouth since her arrival, before resuming her
signing. "A large collection... are you travelling a lot?" She
asked, looking over and then straightening herself, hitting her
head on the doorframe, groaning before smiling again... "Don't
worry... I'm used to it." She signed, without even thinking about
it, like it was automated.
Luna's smile slipped from her face,"I used to travel a lot, now, I
don't usually have the time..." Luna signed. She smiled again, even
though it was half halfheartedly. "Do you play any instruments?"

"Then I might have something for you... and to your question... why
don't you just come along?" Therese blushes, as she carefully
grabbed Luna's hand and pulled her along into her own room. The
only real furniture was her bed and her drawer, as her notes and
scribblings are all a little carpet on the ground. At the window
was another Kanaille, this one though had a violet sheen from top
to the very roots that came out of the little soil she had brought
along. What took the cake though is the large amassment of metals
on the wall. Almost like a table, they were all arranged neatly
into little piles and sorted by reactivity and lethality. "As for
the music..." Opening the uppermost shelf of the drawer, one so
high Luna couldn't even reach it, she pulled out a guitar with some
distinct features. It was larger, only had four strings and had a
little soil on the tuning parts.
(Unsure about when this takes place... basically, she made a bass
guitar on her own.)
