My daughter really likes pokemon. She's put quite a bit of time into X & Y on her DS. Some time ago we got her Pearl but she really didn't like that one.

She wants Ultra Sun now. Based on the fact that she likes X & Y and doesn't like Pearl, is it likely she'll enjoy Ultra sun?

I wouldn't say this is quite the right location for this thread, as I believe the "Help" section is meant for help regarding PokeHeroes itself.
However,

X&Y are wayyy closer in style to Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon than Diamond and Pearl are, and therefore, if the issue is that she disliked the old, retro-ish style of Pearl but quite liked the style of X&Y, yes, I would say that it is likely she would enjoy Ultra Sun.
