The war room as normal was noisy as hell. Hah, he should get a
reward for the jokes he tells. But the point still stood that the
rabble of other demons was way too loud for him to get any
meaningful rest in. Tucked away in the corner between the sofa and
the wall, Belphegor rested his head against the itchy material of
the couch. Ah, he wished that everything would be done and over
with already so he could go back to bed. If he remembered
correctly, some demon or whatever wanted him to infiltrate heaven
or something but that request was made years ago and Belphegor just
never got around to it. So now he was stuck here with the rest of
the rabble. Closing his eyes, he hoped that whoever was in charge
of this meeting would come soon.
“QUIET YOU FILTHY PIGS!” Salvation roared, slamming her spear into
the ground and forming black cracks along the rock. The war room
went silent, as she panted “there is an injured soldier on the bank
of the lava lake. A demon has healed him, and that demon happened
to be a banished demon. One of your soldiers is now banished as
well.” She said “you will have to make up for it by doubling your
effort. Am I understood?” She boomed, the mana of everyone swirling
inside them like a live animal
He scoffed a little, but did absorb the mana, he really didnt want
to die due to his injuries. He wheezed a little, in pain , but
managed to get up a little better than before. "our dearest
Salvation doesnt have anything besides empty threats" he mumbled a
little, more to himself
“Oh, salvation?” He asked, sighing “I used to work for her. Then I
met someone I liked, and didn’t come in to work for one day. She
banished me, and now I live in the lava” he sighed “so, now if I
find someone I take care of them. It’s no fun to talk to corpses”
He wheezed "That sounds just like her. She almost killed me for
´messing up her magic´. Like I could do something this severe. His
wings seemed to regain some structure, he folded them, although
painful they still seemed neat enough to fold. "After threathening
her that Lucifer would be mad if she killed a loyal demon with no
real reason, she left me in this state yet alive.. or well halfway
alive I gues.." //I already died once.// He thought to himself
Frowning at the order, Belphegor kept quiet and tucked himself
closer against the wall. Doubling his effort, huh. That was
troublesome and he really didn't want to do that. But what the Boss
Lady wanted she would get. The uncomfortable pressure of
overwhelming mana in the room was suffocating but Belphegor forced
himself to crawl up and drape himself over the top of the couch.
"Mind telling us who was banished, so we know who to hit, M'lady?"
He mumbled sleepily, yawning at the amount of energy it had cost
him to do that simple task
His eyes glowed like the sun “well, we’ve all died once before” he
said, casually responding to his thought “and yes, that is just
like her. She loses control of her own sanity a lot”
His mana was morphed to shape like a spiky ball so it jabbed into
his soul “speak only when spoken too, soldier” she growled “and no,
I don’t know his name. I don’t know any of your names except hawk,
the best demon with the best disguise I’ve ever seen”
"Apologies, ma'am. Won't happen again, ma'am. Probably." Belphegor
lazily saluted, his own mana wrapping itself around his soul like a
warm blanket. Although it didn't stave off the pain and discomfort,
it did keep his soul safe from any deadly and lasting damage. That
was the type of demon Belphegor was, a lazy creature who waited for
others to tire themselves out before he struck the final blow, his
protective mana protecting him from harm. Ah, but still this was a
pain in the neck, having to work more. If he ever found who got
banished, he'd give them an earful, even if he'd inevitably fall
asleep afterwards.
Hawk appeared in a burst of flame “Lucifers staff, that was
terrifying” he wheezed “a angel had me by the ear and told me I
hadda do paperwork. Do I have to paperwork?” He asked, turning to
the closest person to him as salvation walked away, and that person
happened to be belphegor
"Mad woman. " Salem frowned "Respectable.. but she turns on her own
kind a lot. A mere secretary seeing herself above all others. " he
scoffed a little , then lifted his head "What is your name...
lava...guy-" he didnt know what he should call the creature, well
the person.. the fellow demon, defenetly banished by Salvations
blind rage. He managed to get up by now, steadying himself as he
did so
“Oh, I’m not a creature, I’m a demon like you” he said, responding
too his thoughts again “my name is
belzekrieghechundesieryutunlomenrophl” he murmured, talking faster
the longer it went “my one friend who died call me blitzkrieg” he
said, his four eyes glowing again
Belphegor's eyes lit up. "Mhm. Loooots and lots of paperwork." He
agreed with a wicked grin. "Double the work too." Plus his own
share of work so that would make it four times the work. Or course,
as compensation he'd take on a quarter of Hawk's work. It was only
fair, really.
Somewhere in heaven, Raphael sneezed. The considerably smaller
stack of work in his arms fluttered slightly before settling. "Ah,
I hope I'm not getting sick." He bemoaned, knocking on the
accounting division's door.
“AHHHHHHHHH” he said, dissapearing in a burst of flame. He
reappeared behind Raphael “okay, I paperwork then. How much do I
have to do becsuse I knocked down the papers?”
"eeeh come back..." Belphegor whined, slumping back over the couch
and making no move to chase after Hawk. Oh well, this was as good
of a place as any to take a nap.
A small shriek was startled out of the angel's mouth as he spun
around, feathers fanned out and fluffy in an attempt to look larger
than he actually was. "Wha- How-" He sputtered, spinning around to
face the demon. "Y-you again. Haven't you learned your lesson
already?" He asked masking his embarrassed flush with a cough,
mortified by his uncharacteristic moment of unprofessionalism.
"Blitzkrieg it is then" Salem nodded a little "My name´s Salem." he
muttered, his wings had turned back to his leathery ones, unfolding
shortly, pure black formed around leathery bones growing out of his
back, instead of the dim glimming halo, which had been faint
before, a pair of horns, black and curled, shortly glimmering red,
sprouted out of his head and a black tail curled around one of his
legs, which had still been a bit shakey. Regenerating his Achilles’
tendon seemed harder than he assumed it would be
He blinked with one eye at a time “you tell me to do paperwork with
you becsuse I knocked down the paper” he said, confused “so I’m
here to do paperwork”he said, flapping his beautiful jet black
wings
“I help with that” he said, forming a ball of pink fire “shove this
in your ankle and it’ll heal the tendon” he said, handing him the
magic “first alvie friend, how fun!”
"For sure I am not here to take away all of your magic, but thank
you. The lady has taken a lot of mine by absorbing my blood so any
help is very useful" he muttered, taking the pink fire from his
hand and looking at it shortly, he then did as he was instructed
to, watching his tendon regenerate all by itself. He shortly
flapped his leathery wings "Quite increadlible."
"Well... yes I did... but I've already finished what I had planned
on giving you..." He admitted albeit guiltily. "Truthfully I didn't
expect you to return so I went ahead and finished the work. These
things don't wait around for unruly demons to come and finish
them." His eyes flickered over to the pretty wings for a moment,
attention captured by the pretty gloss that seemed to wrap around
each feather before focusing back on the matter at hand. "If you
really want to do some work though, I have some back at the office?
Though I fail to understand why you would want to..."
“Yes, my mana is regenerated by lava. And it’s been building for a
while. I can do this” he said, before bright purple flames shot out
of all four eyes, before forming the word “impending doom” in the
sky, as it petered out and showered them in uranium
“I want to do the work becsuse I didn’t have to knock down the
papers, and you did all of it in like the one minute I was gone” he
said, sighing “so I feel the need to do work for you” he murmured,
his glossy wings curling at the edges, and if one looked close
enough, there were purple markings in Mandarin Chinese on the
feathers, spelling out positive words and swears
The demon was feeling... Guilty? That was a surprise to him as he,
like many other angels, had been taught that devil's reveled in
their chaos and debauchery. His expression softened for a moment
before Raphael mentally hit himself. Even if he was surprisingly
more human than he thought, the person standing before him was
still the enemy. An enemy with very pretty wings that was making a
good case for himself being nicer than he seemed, but an enemy
anyways. "Well I won't stop you then. Walk with me." He finally
said, and began walking towards the Information Department where
his office was located.
