Pokemon. Wondrous and Mysterious creatures, with extraordinary abilities humans could only dream of possessing. But have you ever wondered how pokemon came to be? You seek for the question yourself, you, a human teenager. You've been traveling for days now. Running out of food, and water. You notice an old shack, and seek refuge. There isn't any signs of life, but there's an old book laying on a weathered table. Curiously, you open it and flip through the pages...
You continue to read, but there is only one sentence left...
Suddenly you began to feel sick, this is too overwhelming. You leave the shack in a rush, grabbing your backpack. You broke off into a jog leaving the beaten, weathered, abandoned shack behind. Before you could say Arceus you slipped and fell over a steep ravine. And that was the last of your human life.
You wake up groggily, you notice something is different. You're laying on a field of lush green grass and tall trees. A forest. Your backpack isn't with you. But something else is different too. You aren't human.
You're a pokemon.

Backstory?: William was a pokemon bred for fighting purposes by humans. He was then taken from his home and forced to participate in dog pokemon fights. He fought for his life, he got the long scar on his face from a Manectric and lost his horn to an Arcanine. The humans constantly beated him, then cut off his tail. Then when he sought the opportunity he escaped. Later on he found Dakota, and took him under his wing.
Additional Character Information: William researches the phenomenon of humans turning into pokemon.

Backstory?: Dakota was orginally a human, he was later found by William and learn from him. He now helps him with his studies and helps other pokemon that were in his situation.

[ William's P.O.V ]
Starting the day off right, I walked outside of my home which was sturdily built out of large pieces of wood. I could thank the Mankey and Primapes in the forest for that. I knew Dakota was out picking berries from the fields not too far away. I left him a note on the door saying I'd be going to the town nearby for supplies. Dakota's strong enough to handle himself for a while.. he went under my training of all things. I thought, looking back at my home before walking off.
[ Dakota's P.O.V ]
I was picking Oran and Pecha berries in a field not too far away from William's house. I put a few fresh Oran berries in the basket before half walking half waddling over towards the Pecha berry bushes for some more variety. I plucked four Pecha berries from the bushes, leaving a few for passing by pokemon. I put them in the basket and set off back to the house. After about five minutes I noticed the note on the door. I set my basket down and read it;
"I'll be heading towards Solen Town for the evening and will be gone for about half the day. Please watch over the house and help yourself to whatever snacks we have. I'll see you soon!"

I opened the door setting the basket of Pecha and Oran berries down on the table along with William's written note. "Oh! I forgot! Honey!" I waddled off shutting the door behind me.

I continued to waddle off to Ms. Vespiquen's for some honey. I stopped in my tracks, I spotted a Houndoom with blue eyes and a human like necklace. I recognized the symbol. "H-hey are you lost Ms?" I asked you in a sheepish tone, ignoring the fact that I was stuttering. I awaited your response, my timid gaze unwavering. She doesn't seem to be hostile... I thought.
[ William's P.O.V ]
I continued my way, a flock of Beautifly hovering by. I ignored them and continued on. I had no time to distract myself, I couldn't keep Dakota waiting. After a while I was about half way there, I froze. I was being watched. And out of the shadows a Zweilous walked in front of me. I was smaller than it, and I blamed genetics on that. "Hey, do you have any money?" One head snapped. "I do.. but should I really be giving it to you?" I smirked. "Hey you should wipe that grin off your face runt if you know what's good for ya!" The second head snarled.
I had no time for this pokemon's games. "If you don't mind.. I'd like to get myself moving before sunset." I said walking past the Zweilous. But it used Dragon Breath on a nearby tree, causing it to block my path. "You're not going anywhere." The Zweilous growled.
"You asked for it boys. I didn't want it to come to this..." I said. I used Flamethrower it hit took the Zweilous by surprise. While it was distracted I lunged, causing the foe to flinch. I locked my jaws around one head in an attempt to suffocate it to death but the other head snapped viciously grazing my muzzle. I let go, and kicked the Zweilous knocking it over exposing it's tender underbelly. I pinned it to the ground about to go for the finishing blow "Please! Have mercy..!" The two heads begged. "Ugh.." I spat letting go, but that was a poor move on my choice. The Zweilous used Body Slam and rammed into me.
"Tch... I was going to spare you buddy.. especially since I don't want your blood on my jowls. But I've run out of patience for the two of you.." I snarled and ran at a astonishing speed taking the pokemon by surprise I grabbed one head and flung it at the fallen tree trunk with brute force knocking the air out of the Zweilous's lungs. I then finished the pokemon off by using my claws to slash at it's underbelly hitting a few major organs. The pokemon fell over, laying limp on the ground. "What a bother... should I even continue? I don't want to run into any more pokemon like that.." I muttered.
"I'll just head back.." I sighed, walking back to Dakota.

"O-oh... you can come with me..! I have a house about five minutes from here..! Although I live with another Houndoom such as yourself.. he is quite small compared to you though." I replied. "You can stay with us until you remember what happened!" I added with a smile, trying to reassure you. "My name is Dakota! I-it's a pleasure to meet you!"
[ William's P.O.V ]
I walked back home, pokemon along the way gave me skeptical looks. I ignored them, I was quite used to that already. But it still hurt just as the first time. "I'm coming Dakota." I muttered under my breath.

"N-no it's alright! I assure you, William will gladly let you stay!" I said, my voice rised. "He let me stay..." I added quietly to myself. "Follow me, Che! I'm assuming you don't have a place to stay, and I'll be baking some delicious Oran and Pecha berry pie! Come along now!" I waddled off towards the house, waiting for you to follow.
[ William's P.O.V ]
I was about ten minutes away from the house. Hopefully Dakota will be back by the time I get there... and the pie better be done... I thought, my stomach growling. I weaved through the trees, taking an off road tour. I never went to Solen Town to get the apples, but that'd be alright. I can always go tomorrow to get them.

"What do you mean? Like the amnesia stuff? We can talk about it more in the house." I told you. After about five minutes of walking we reached our destination. "Here we are! I have the spare key here.." I reached for it and unlocked the door. I set the key on the table on top of the note. "I'll get working on the pie, you can look around a bit." I told you.
[ William's P.O.V ]
I was almost there, then let myself in. I noticed Dakota working on the pie and another pokemon with him, a Houndoom. I was about to ask what you were doing here, but Dakota interrupted me.
[ Dakota's P.O.V ]
"William, why're you home so early! You're-.. You're wounded! Did you get in another fight again?" I asked worriedly, stepping away from the meal and grabbing the first aid kit. "What happened?" I asked.
[ William's P.O.V ]
"I told you to call me Will, and I just ran into some trouble along the way. It's just a bite mark Dakota. It'll heal when it's time." I sighed. "Putting that aside, who's she?" I looked up at you.
[ Dakota's P.O.V ]
"O-oh.. if you say so.." I set the first aid kit on the table and went back to cook the meal "I'll let her introduce herself." I said, waiting for you to speak.

I stayed silent for a long time before replying "...Do you mind if I ask you if you remember anything? Like a past life?" I asked, looking into her blue eyes. Could she be a former human? I better investigate... I thought. Dakota then snapped me out of my train of thought.
[ Dakota's P.O.V ]
"O-oh..! You don't mean she used to be a human like me, right Willia- Will?" I said, trying to correct myself. I waited for William's response...
[ William's P.O.V ]
"It is quite possible. I'd like to investigate, but first... Che." I asked her, I couldn't help but smile at the thought of another battle "Do you know how to fight?"

"The pokemon world is a harsh place. And there will be a time where you will need to fight for your life. Using moves is a natural instinct for a pokemon. If you will, we can go outside. I'd like you to attack me, using your moves. Your a Houndoom like me, you can breathe fire. But please, not in here.. I don't want to set the house on fire.." I said.
[ Dakota's P.O.V ]
"William's right. He taught me how to fight!" I said proudly, "He's a really good battler! He'll each you all you need for survival!"
[ William's P.O.V ]
"Dakota please.. you're embarrassing me." I teased "But in all seriousness I am one of the strongest pokemon in this forest. But in the mountains there are pokemon as fierce as me and won't hesitate to kill." I told you. "Looks at the scar on my face. That could happen to you. Or even worse, you could die. And no one would notice. The world will keep going on, like you never existed." I added.
"Sorry for the harsh topic. Let's go outside and test your mettle." I smiled, letting myself out.

"Yup. You're a Houndoom." I said. "Follow me, I'll take you to the lake nearby to look at your reflection." I said, beckoning you with my head towards the door. I walked out.

"I wouldn't worry about a thing Ms Che! Follow William, I'll wait for you both here! He'll expect you to use a move on him, so give it all you got!" I smiled.
