INTRODUCTION

It looks like this was something that has been on my mind ever since I experienced the Yokai Watch game for the first time Christmas Day. I've known about the fandom ever since I saw the anime back in October and even if I haven't seen it for some time I can already tell that this is one thing that I'm not going to give up for a long time. I like the concept of this series and the fact it uses the whole befriending aspect. The only reason I haven't thought of writing this sooner was because I didn't have a plot. Now, however, I know what I'm going to do with this.

Something that has gotten my interest from the start was the befriending aspect that I mentioned above. The one plot idea that has been on my mind since I got the game was trying to think of a idea that uses this method for the basis of a mega crossover or a story that has characters from many different fandoms. Thus the idea to not only use the familiar yokai, but also characters ranging from cartoons and anime to video games and books. It was something that I was trying to use for my other ideas that I posted, but just couldn't get started. This was what I was trying to work up for the past few days.

Now there was something else missing. I had the basis of befriending yokai and characters from other fandoms, but not a plot. That came today when I was playing my copy of Yokai Watch. I never really felt anything to the bosses that I've fought previous to the one I'm going to go back to after I train for a while. First there was a snake, lizard with many heads, a pig in a bath house, a boat creature, a giant...thing, living armor, which was really a mouse, and a giant spider. What came next took me off guard and slowly began to make me think. Enter Dr. Maddiman (I think his name comes from mad man, which he is) who you fight in an abandon hospital. He's basically this mad doctor yokai and I was just so confused as to how to fight him. The thing is that I wasn't using the target option, which is needed for his battle to destroy the hearts that appear. He uses these hearts to heal later in the battle, which only makes the battle harder. As I took a break from the game for a day I began to think. Maybe using Dr. Maddiman in this idea would add what I'm missing.

I began planning his role right then and there. To add to my plotline I decided that he should create the story's main villain, who turns on him and leaves to come up with her own plans. Now we have a boss yokai who is now working to help stop what he has created in the first place.

The rest of the story follows a similar, if not darker, plot to both the Yokai Watch anime and game. Other then the fact yokai are not the only ones being befriended (characters from other fandoms are too) the main character is not going to be Nate or Katie (who is the player character if you pick to play as a girl), but an original character. Whisper still has his normal role, but things are different from here on out.

That's all there really is to say. I hope this story goes well and be sure to check back when everything begins. As with the writing method used for other ideas I'm going to be writing chapters slowly, editing in more until each chapter is done. That way I don't have to write everything in one sitting. I'll see you for the first chapter.

THE BEGINNING

Sapphire looked down at the town from where she was standing on the roof of one of the local hotels. She had lived here, in one of the empty rooms, for as long as she could remember. After an accident that had left her alone she had been living on the street until she was taken in by the owners of this hotel. There were many like it, but this was the one place she could always call home.

She had just turned sixteen and was thinking about leaving the hotel to find somewhere else to live, but for now this was where she belonged. Her mid-back length black hair was blowing in the light breeze and she closed her eyes, feeling it for a few minutes before heading back in. She was thinking of exploring the outskirts of the town, something she had always enjoyed. One day she hoped to travel further then the town or it's outer limits, but she couldn't just yet. She had no reason to leave and she was perfectly fine here in town for the time being.

As she was turning to leave something made her turn back. She didn't know what it was, but she could feel something, something dark, off towards the more abandoned part of the town. Even if she knew that there was nothing there she knew that there was something not right going on there. A power was growing, one that shouldn't have started existing and for some reason it was calling out to her. As if she was the one destined to stop it or it, whatever it was, was out to get her.

After standing there, taking in the feeling, she decided to check it out. The location of where she was picking up the feeling wasn't far and she would be back before the hotel closed seeing it was still early evening, the sun had only started to lower in the sky. She turned and started towards the door that led back inside only to turn once more as something rushed passed her, picking up a gust of wind.

"What was that?"

She had seen what it had been, but she knew something had passed her, something she couldn't see. Shaking off the feeling she continued towards the door and entered the small empty hallway beyond it. This small part of the hotel wasn't in use and she liked to come here when she wanted some alone time, but now there was something she had to look into and she would soon find out that this wasn't just something she had to do, but something that had to be done for the sake of the world.

- - - - - - - - -

The feeling led her to an old building hidden from the rest of the town by a cluster of trees. She had seen this place a few times before, but had never really gave it much thought seeing it had been abandoned for she didn't know how long. It looked a little like a temple with a small also rundown shrine at the front. She didn't know what it had been used for, but now she felt as if she had to go inside. The feeling that had drawn her here was stronger then ever and she knew she had no choice, but to listen to it.

"I'll only be in there for a few minutes at the most," she said to herself. "Then I can go back and put all this behind me."

As she entered the strange temple the feeling only grew more intense and it was combined with another feeling, one of something invisible watching her. There didn't seem to be a lot of places where she could explore here since a lot of the rooms were locked or had their entry ways blocked. Yet the feeling she had been following didn't lead her to one of the rooms, but down several halls until she got to the central part of the temple like building.

This room looked to be in better shape then the rest of the place, but only by a little. In the center of the room was a shrine similar to the one that was outside except this one seemed to have something inside of it. She noticed something shiny inside of the small opening and went to investigate. After pulling the object out she saw it was a watch like device with a section that seemed to open. As soon as she touched it she felt the same feeling she had felt earlier. The feeling of being watched...and the watcher wasn't friendly.

"I knew you couldn't ignore the call of the Yokai Watch," it was a female's voice. "Unluckily for you I'm the one that got here first."

Sapphire turned around to see a strange woman standing to the other side of the room. She had long dark purple hair, which nearly reached the ground. She was wearing a black and dark purple dress and appeared to be floating above the ground.

"Who are you?" Sapphire asked her.

"I'm Nightmara," the woman said. "You can say I'm an artificial yokai."

"Artificial," Sapphire looked confused. "So you were created?"

"We're get into that later," Nightmara continued. There was a tone to his voice that seemed to be forced, as if she was trying to get on her good side, but had dark plans. "Just give me that Yokai Watch and I'll tell you anything you want to know."

Sapphire took a few steps back. She didn't trust this person...yokai...artificial or not she knew Nightmara couldn't be trusted. Then she felt someone else watching her and turned to see a ghost like creature speeding towards them, "Don't give her the watch. She only wants it to gain control of both the human and yokai realms--"

"Mind your own business, Whisper," Nightmara said, turning her attention to the ghost like being that had just entered the room. "This doesn't concern you."

"It does actually," Whisper replied and turned to Sapphire. "Don't listen to her."

"You didn't have to tell me that," Sapphire said, turning her attention back to Nightmara. "I can already tell she is untrustworthy."

She then put the strange watch like device on and there was a flash of light. When it cleared there was a slight change to her. There was a sapphire blue streak going through her black hair and her old outfit was replaced with an almost all black uniform with a silver star shaped symbol off to one side. At this Nightmara glared at her and vanished from the room in a burst of purple smoke. Sapphire looked at the watch like device knowing that it was the reason for her sudden slight transformation, but was there more to it then she knew? She was just going to have to find out?

And that's it for the first chapter. I know I left it off at a bit of a cliffhanger, but it just has to end that way for now. I'm going to begin work on the second chapter later today. It will be made like this one so I'll be adding to it as time goes on. As you may notice this is not like the normal Yokai Watch game and anime. There will be a lot of differences to it. The presence of characters from other fandoms is only one of those differences.

I'll see you at the next chapter.

NIGHTMARA'S DESIRES

Sapphire took a closer look at the strange watch like device she was now wearing. She hadn't noticed it before, but there were two small gemstones, one yellow and the other green, off to either side of the central main part. She also noticed that the ghost like creature that Nightmara had called Whisper was looking at it as well.

"I haven't seen a yokai watch like that one before," he said. "Must be a new model."

"What's a yokai watch?"

"It's a device that allows it's owner see and befriend the yokai, who are invisible to most humans," Whisper told her. "You can only see me because you own this one."

"That's interesting..." Sapphire said, lost in her own thoughts. It was only when both of the gemstones on the device began glowing and at the same time there was a small glow from the shrine where she had found it in the first place.

As she went to get a closer look she noticed that there was something else there. There was a bright red gemstone embedded in the shrine, right above the opening. When she went to get a closer look the gems on her yokai watch shot out two thin beams of light, which connected to the one on the shrine. At that moment there was a flash and she saw an event play out, one that had taken place in the not too distant past...

(I'm going to get back to the next part later. I just wanted to get this chapter started.)
